Artificial Grass at the Airport

We’re looking at artificial grass at the airport. Artificial grass has many uses and we have covered a multitude of those in our blog over the years. Today, however, we have something new and exciting to share with you!

On Display

Through our network of artificial grass distributors, we serviced a contract for a special window display at Nice airport. The display was to feature a mannequin (lady in typical stylish French dress) walking a dog – a GREEN dog! In order to compliment the context and look of the display, it was decided that a quality artificial grass was needed.

Ordinarily, shops use a relatively inexpensive, thin artificial grass for display use but on this occasion, with the emphasis on luxury and style, the client needed something more visually appealing. The solution? Our Buzz Luxe grass carpet – a soft 24mm pile synthetic grass usually used for installation on lawns, pathways and play areas.

The end result speaks for itself!

Doggie Bathrooms

All the world loves pets … or so it seems. There is a growing number of people who want only the best for their pets. From pet care to fashion, styling and even transportation.

According to the latest reports, there is even a new, dedicated, pet airline company. Yes, you read that right … an airline just for pets! They offer lots of information on why they came into being. They tell you how they will take care of your prized pooch or moggie. And they even offer tips on how to prepare your pet for travel. From the list of pet owners’ comments it appears a great success.

So what has this to do with artificial grass? Well, at some US airports they have even created what they call ‘pet relief areas’ (aka doggie bathrooms). This is so that dogs can ‘lift a leg’ in their own special rest area before boarding their flight! The idea came about because of the need for designated “bathrooms” for service animals.

Next to Runways

But we thought it worth mentioning that artificial turf is increasingly being used adjacent to runways. Here are 5 of the reasons why:-

Low insect and worm usage which reduces the number of birds – a vital safety consideration.
Ability to add different colours to designate zones.
Minimise foreign debris.
Drainage can be improved and lower maintenance costs. In these days of increased security the fewer people you need to grant approval access for the better.
Reduction is dust and debris raised during take off and landings.
